U2 Spends the Night at the W Hotel in Hoboken

While in the area recently for their U2 360 Tour at the New Meadowlands Stadium, U2 stayed at the W Hotel & Residences in Hoboken. This initially surprised me especially since Bono owns the Penthouse at the San Remo on Central Park West.

After the sold out show, Bono & company enjoyed a stroll in Hoboken where they stopped into Fresh Pommes Frites to enjoy some fries. How normal of the World’s biggest rock stars!

4th of July Fireworks in Hoboken NJ

The Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks are once again on the Hudson River and Hoboken is a prime viewing location. Here are the viewing location details.

The best place to view the Fireworks is going to be along Frank Sinatra Drive between 15th St. south to 1st St. Pier C will be closed, however Pier A will be open to view the fireworks. Arrive early. Thousands of visitors are expected to come into Hoboken on the 4th.

Parking will extremely limited. Sinatra drive will be closed to cars along with the western sides of Willow Avenue & Hudson St. The immediate area near the PATH Station will also be closed to cars. Bottom line, take mass transportation. If you insist on driving, you will probably have to use one of Hoboken’s parking garages.

The Fireworks begin at 9:20pm and are expected to last 30 minutes. Have a great 4th of July!

Hoboken 4th of July Fireworks Viewing Locations

While some people leave Hoboken to head to the Jersey Shore or the Hamptons for the 4th of July weekend, many will stay in the area and watch the spectacular Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks which are taking place for the second year in a row on the Hudson River.

Below are the areas in Hoboken where you can view this great fireworks show.

• Pier A Park-Off Sinatra Dr. between 1st & 2nd St
• Frank Sinatra Drive-The entire street will be closed to traffic.
• Maxwell Place Park-Located in front of the condos at Maxwell Place on the Hudson.
• The Shipyard-Located on Sinatra Drive between 15th St. & 12th St.

The following streets will be closed to parking & all vehicle traffic on the 4th of July from 8am to midnight.

• Frank Sinatra Drive from 15th St. to 1st St.
• River Street from Hudson Place to 4th Street

Parking is going to be very difficult on the 4th with many street closures. It is recommended that you take public transportation or use one of Hoboken’s Public Parking Garages.

A Hoboken Retrospective

I remember visiting in 1994 and my parents were saying “Hoboken is the next big thing.”  Driving into Hoboken you first noticed the giant Lipton Tea Factory, which is now the Hudson Tea Building condos. If you took a drive down Hudson St., you saw the Maxwell Coffee Factory, which has since been demolished and is now Maxwell Place on the Hudson. Each year more and more transformation is taking place in Hoboken.

Fast Forward to the Hoboken of Today

The Hoboken Bar & Grill on 3rd and Washington St. offers the Sunday game with all your favorites on tap. Other unique dining spots can suit any mood, along with endless boutiques to shops, gyms, spas, and a posh Riverfront Park. Hoboken is the it-spot west of the Hudson River.
