U2 Spends the Night at the W Hotel in Hoboken

While in the area recently for their U2 360 Tour at the New Meadowlands Stadium, U2 stayed at the W Hotel & Residences in Hoboken. This initially surprised me especially since Bono owns the Penthouse at the San Remo on Central Park West.

After the sold out show, Bono & company enjoyed a stroll in Hoboken where they stopped into Fresh Pommes Frites to enjoy some fries. How normal of the World’s biggest rock stars!

Eli Manning’s Hoboken Condo at the Hudson Tea Building

I was looking through the tax records and noticed that NY Giants Quarterback and Superbowl MVP Eli Manning recently purchased another condo at the Hudson Tea Building.

Eli and his wife Abby originally owned two direct east facing, 2 bedroom units at 1500 Hudson St. which they purchased in late 2005 for $1,071,990 and $1,133,990. They renovated the units into one impressive condominium which was featured on the website, Electronic House. In late 2010 they acquired a 735 sq.ft studio next door to their current residence for $535,000, expanding the total size of the property to an impressive 3,555 sq.ft.

Hudson River Waterfront Development near Hudson Tea Building

An application has been submitted by Shipyard Associates to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) requesting a permit to rebuild the pier located directly east of the Hudson Tea Building, 1500 Hudson Street Building. The permit request also includes building two eleven story residential towers on top of the rebuilt pier. These new towers would be called Monarch at Shipyard.

Shipyard Associates currently owns the Shipyard rental complex which includes the Sovereign and Vanguard residential rental buildings.

An inevitable battle from Hudson Tea owners is sure to ensue from this action. The 2004 & 2010 Hoboken Master Plan called for this site to be a residential recreation area for outdoor space including tennis courts.
